Pa amb tomàquet
Pa amb tomàquet is Catalan for bread with tomato (Pan con tomate in Spanish). That's just what it is. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of it – this tomato bread is a real treat for the taste buds! Pa amb tomàquet is great for accompanying other tapas, and is usually seen on any tapas table in the greater Barcelona-area. Perfect with Spanish Omelette, Spanish Ham, Alioli, or whatever else you can think of.
Here's how you make it:
- Toast the bread
- Optional: Peel a clove of garlic and rub it on the bread
- Slice a tomato in two and rub on the bread while you gently squeeze it
- Drizzle some oil over the bread and tomato
- Add salt to taste
You get the best results by using rustic bread (pa de pagès in Catalan), but any bread will do.
